The Christmas light displays along The Boulevard in Ivanhoe are one of Melbourne's most iconic festive traditions. This beloved resident-led event has delighted visitors for years with its magical displays, spreading Christmas cheer throughout the community.
In 2020 and 2021, the event was paused due to COVID-19 restrictions. However, the lights made a cautious return in 2022, supported by Banyule City Council, with traffic management measures implemented from December 20 to 24. Although scaled down due to safety concerns raised by Victoria Police, it marked a hopeful restart of this cherished event. In 2023, the festivities expanded slightly, with traffic management, portable toilets, and a few food vendors available from December 19 to 24. Residents continued to create enchanting displays, making the experience memorable for visitors.
For 2024, the event promises to be as magical as ever, with the community pulling out all the stops to make this year's displays truly memorable.
