Flocking Together celebrates renewal, revitalisation and the return of the birds and bushland after the 2019 Cudlee Creek fire. In the months after the fire, over 400 local children contributed drawings that depicted the regeneration of local bushland and their hope for the return of the birds. Projection art company illuminart meticulously animated these images, adding spoken word by local writer Belinda Broughton and sounds from nature, to create a captivating light show, projected onto the heritage buildings of Fabrik in Mill Square. As the community gathers for the first Lights of Lobethal Festival since the fires, this project connects us with each other and with the natural world around us, through the joy and energy of children’s creativity.
