Cherished Quakers Hill Christmas Lights Display Comes to an End After 31 Years

One of Western Sydney’s most iconic and long-running Christmas displays has officially wrapped up, with the beloved tradition at 7 Mallee Street, Quakers Hill, NSW concluding its final season in 2024. After an extraordinary 31 years of Christmas magic, the display will not return in 2025.

For more than three decades, the home at Mallee Street has been a shining highlight on Sydney’s Christmas lights trail, drawing families from across the region who came to experience its enchanting blend of imagination, craftsmanship, and festive joy.

The display became famous for its life-size sleigh and reindeer perched proudly on the roof, a favourite photo spot each year. Visitors marvelled at the snow-covered miniature village, elves hard at work in a toy-making workshop, and a beautifully crafted window display that brought classic Christmas storytelling to life. Children were always invited to sit inside the sleigh for photos, adding a personal touch that helped create magical memories for countless families.

Adding to the festive charm, the home regularly hosted visits from Mr and Mrs Claus, as well as performances from a local Christmas choir, transforming the front yard into a heartwarming community gathering place.

A Heartfelt Farewell From the Owners

Peter and Lauraine Overton shared a touching message announcing the end of their display, expressing deep gratitude to those who have supported them over the years:

“Dear Friends and Neighbours. After 31 wonderful years of spreading Christmas cheer through our lights display, we’ve decided to retire this beloved tradition. It has been a joy and an honour to share the magic of the season with all of you. Over the years, your support, smiles, and kind words have made it all the more special.

As we turn this page, we carry with us countless cherished memories and the joy of having connected with so many wonderful people. Although this chapter is closing, the memories we’ve shared will remain in our hearts forever.

Thank you all for being a part of this journey. We wish you all a very Merry Christmas—stay happy, healthy and safe. With love and gratitude,……..Peter and Lauraine Overton
“May you never be too grown up to search the skies on Christmas Eve.”

.Their words reflect just how much this tradition meant - not only to the thousands who visited over the years, but also to the family who created it with love, dedication, and community spirit.
