Popular Waratah Street, North Bondi Christmas Lights Display Ends After 22 Year Run

 

One of Sydney's most beloved Christmas light displays will not return in 2025, marking the end of a spectacular 22-year tradition at 5 Waratah Street, North Bondi.

The owners, who have brought joy to the community with their elaborate display, announced their decision through an email to Christmas Light Search. The property has been a must-visit destination on Sydney's Christmas lights trail, enchanting visitors throughout the Christmas season.

The display has featured an impressive array of festive decorations, including a charming English Village Display showcased in two room windows, and a magical pathway adorned with candy canes, icicles, and fairy lights leading to a Christmas tree with wrapped presents. Visitors have been delighted by traditional favorites such as a large snowman, gingerbread man, and Santa Claus figure.

Other beloved features have included a whimsical sled pulled by sausage dogs, a family of three reindeer, illuminated lamp posts, and a cheerful elf with cart nestled beneath an illuminated tree. The display was completed with an illuminated Santa face, scattered fairy lights, and sparkling icicle lights that transformed the property into a magical Christmas wonderland.

In 2024, the display celebrated its 22nd and final year of bringing Christmas joy to the community. Over the years, the Waratah Street installation had become a cherished part of many families' Christmas traditions. Sources indicate that concerns about traffic congestion and noise in the residential area contributed to the decision to discontinue the display.
